Review of El Dorado, Kansas

A Neat Place to Live?
Star Rating - 9/23/2009
I have lived in El Dorado most of my life. I have spent time in the military and living in Montana, but mostly in Kansas. El Dorado was considered a distant suburb of Wichita till the economy tanked. Now it is too expensive to realisticaly commute back and forth so there has been little growth in population and economic development. A prison, small refinery, and balloon plant are the primary employers next to the school district. We have a nationally ranked junior college, Butler Community College; Their football program has won 6 recent national championships. The public schools are mediocere at best. Some spill over crime from Wichita, the refinery, prison, and college stongly inhibit a positive enviroment for kids and young adults.
